About Sandaran
A Place to Lean on for Retirement Matters
Sandaran was founded to give individuals and families in Malaysia a calm, knowledgeable place to turn when retirement entitlements become unclear or disputed.

How Sandaran Came to Be
Sandaran was established in Kuala Lumpur by a small group of legal professionals who had each, in their earlier careers, encountered the same recurring difficulty: individuals approaching retirement age who did not fully understand what they were entitled to — or who had submitted claims to KWSP or a pension body only to receive a declined notice with little explanation attached.
The name Sandaran — meaning support or a place to lean — reflects what the founders wanted the practice to be: not a firm that rushes clients through complex paperwork, but one that takes the time to sit alongside them, explain what has happened, and help them move forward at a considered pace.
Since opening at Plaza Sentral, we have worked with retirees, public servants, private sector employees, and families managing the pension affairs of elderly relatives. Our caseload spans EPF withdrawal disputes, delayed pension payments under KWAP, survivor entitlement documentation, and multi-scheme coordination for households with several concurrent retirement arrangements.
We do not take on more cases than we can handle with care. Each client receives the attention their matter deserves, and we are honest when a timeline is uncertain or an outcome is not within our control to determine.
Our Mission
To make pension and EPF matters approachable for every Malaysian — by explaining entitlements clearly, handling disputes with care, and keeping clients informed at every step.
Our Vision
A Malaysia where no retiree loses access to their entitlements because the system was too difficult to navigate on their own.
Our Values
Patience, honesty, and thoroughness. We do not overstate what we can achieve, and we do not rush a client into a decision that deserves careful thought.

How We Work
Standards We Hold Ourselves To
Every matter we handle is subject to the same professional standards, regardless of complexity or case size.
Malaysian Bar Registration
All practising advisors at Sandaran hold current Practising Certificates issued by the Malaysian Bar. Our work is conducted within the applicable rules of professional conduct.
PDPA Compliance
Personal data you share with us is handled in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We do not share client information without prior consent.
Transparent Engagement Terms
Before any work begins, we provide a clear written description of the scope, fees, and expected timeline. There are no hidden charges and no surprise additions.
Regular Client Updates
We keep clients informed as their case progresses. If there is a delay or a change in direction, we communicate this clearly rather than waiting until the next scheduled review.
Thorough Document Review
Every matter begins with a careful review of the client's pension records and relevant correspondence. We do not prepare submissions without first understanding the full picture.
Accessible to All Ages
Our consultations are conducted at a pace suited to the client. We make allowances for those who prefer face-to-face meetings, phone calls, or written communication — whichever is most comfortable.
Pension and EPF Legal Services in Kuala Lumpur
Sandaran operates at the intersection of legal services and retirement planning — an area where many Malaysians find themselves without clear guidance. The EPF (KWSP) scheme covers the majority of private sector workers, while public servants fall under KWAP or specific statutory pension arrangements. Each scheme has its own rules regarding withdrawal, survivor entitlements, and dispute resolution procedures.
Our work involves reviewing the specifics of each client's situation against the applicable regulations, identifying where a claim may have been declined incorrectly or where entitlements have not been fully exercised. We prepare the supporting documentation and manage the correspondence with the relevant bodies, keeping the process orderly for the client throughout.
We also work with families navigating multiple retirement schemes simultaneously — for example, where one spouse contributed to KWSP through private employment and the other held a government pension, and both sets of entitlements now need to be coordinated. In these situations, our Whole-Family Pension Care service provides a single point of contact and a consolidated view of the household's retirement position.
Sandaran is based in Plaza Sentral, Kuala Lumpur, and serves clients across the Klang Valley and broader Peninsular Malaysia. Appointments can be arranged in person, by telephone, or remotely where circumstances require.
